Hi,

Im very new to the world of raw food, i havent eaten anything cooked for 3 weeks now.  My typical day consists of
Green smoothie for beakfast, i also make enough for lunch.
Snacks of nuts seeds rasins dry fruit.
Dinner is large salad with everything green i can find, sometimes a bit of raw salmon, nuts seeds.
As much fruit as i fancy mostly berries at the moment. (lots of tahini i cant stop eating it)
I think its balanced, i add spirulina and chlorella into my smoothies on alternate days.  Just recently i ve felt "out of it" at work im struggling to concentrate and i feel very very tired.  (only this last week)  I really crave something solid like a crisp bread or something!!!!!  My throat is sore and everyone (kindly) tells me i look thin and tired! im 5.7 and under 8 st

Can anyone give me any advice to pep myself up a bit, i think i need more carbohydrates but i cant possibly eat anymore veg im always quite full by the end of the meal.  Any advice would be appreciated i really believe in this in the long term but im not really looking or feeling the picture of health at the moment.  I have read a great book called ... the live food factor so i know all about de toxing symptoms but i dont feel like its that, i had a really good diet before and used to eat all my veg raw anyway, the only thing i ve cut out is beans, chickpeas, cooked lentils etc and cooked fish, dairy and the odd rivita!

Also my cholesterol last time i had it checked was a good reading of 3.5 i am worried about all the nuts seeds and tahini ive consumed, although i ve lost weight i hope it wont affect my cholesterol badly, i didnt used to really eat nuts at all before.

Any advice and id welcome it.

Thanks Alison x

Everyone thank you so much for your comments x.

I ve just returned from a short break in North Wales, I managed to stay raw all week in my caravan! I took my blender food processer and heaps of fruit and veg, my mum came with me and my two children and she managed a week of smoothies and salads too! I climed Snowdon with my son Henry and felt really good! I think my weight has evened out i ate so much i thought i had maybe put on a few pounds but jumped on the scales this morning and was exactly the same. Im giving up weighing, yes i may be a bit skinny but i feel ok, better than ok actually so thats good enough for me. I took some corn on the cob with me on a walk and that gave me sooooo much energy, must be the sweetness, it has to be the one thing i never thought i would eat and enjoy raw but its lovely! Good luck to you Chole and thanks for the kind words of support, and congratulations on your 6lb weight loss well done!

I guess looking at my diet i eat more veg than fruit, maybe i should make more effort to eat more. I only really enjoy sweet fruits like pineapple grapes and berries, i always eat bananas and avacado every day in my smoothies but Luke i could never eat as many as you do! Im sure that you are very knowledgeable about your diet but i simply couldnt afford to eat that much fruit, the shopping bill is already £90 + every week and i simply couldnt let it creep up anymore. I have to be realistic to a point and i guess i simply do the best i can, i am learning so much from everyone and reading a lot, im sure that the more knowledgable i become the more i will adapt my diet, but for now i am quite pleased with my effort and im not in the slightest missing anything cooked!! xx
Aww thanks, I feel good mostly, have had a few "issues" with strong green juice making my ibs flare up... horrendous.. but that was partly down to too many dry flax crackers too and let myself get too hungry so maybe did not chew things enough or drink enough water... much better now despite a family crisis too... boyfriend is loving my new figure emerging (or rather my old one!) he is really enthusiastic and has bought a spiralizer which I cant wait to try making raw spaghetti etc anyway. My energy is evening out a bit now from some earlier tired feelings.I am including some cooked for now.
Sounds a lovely holiday, have not been to Snowdonia for years. ... xxx
Hi again,

You ve all been great and i ve really enjoyed reading all your replies and good advice. I guess we all have to find what is right for us. I was wondering what the view was on alcohol? Does anyone here drink from time to time, if so what? I have never been one to drink much, I like to have the occasional drink when i go out, the reason im asking is i had a few glasses of wine last night, dont seem to feel any the worse for it, in fact before i was being so conscious about my diet i would have suffered big time after a beer or glass of wine, but i ve noticed that i havent even woken with a headache this morning (believe me for one who drinks so seldom the headache is usually always there). I understand that any alcohol is detrimental to our health but i wondered what - if any alcoholic drink would be the least so. Wine im guessing? Any ideas xx
Apparently wine is raw... so going for organic and vegan in moderation would be fine.. I am not obsessive that it be so and had one glass of wine (small) made up into a spritzer in a full pint glass with lemon slices last night. I did get an instant headache but actually feel that was tension from the week and "unwinding" rather than the wine... so hey ho.. I have basically decided to give up alcohol for the time being as it's a calorie thing plus I want to feel detoxed more. I only had one last night due to wanting to celebrate my friends 25th wedding anniversary. I do feel keeping alcohol to a minimum is a good idea anyway, but a rigid attitude can be stifling and self undermining I guess... xxx
Yep Chole, im with you on that one, I couldnt become that rigid with my diet that i couldnt allow myself the odd drink from time to time, i guess its all about moderation and being sensible. Hope the weight loss is still going well? I have to start exercising now, i ve been putting it off but i used to run quite a bit, may start with a couple of miles tomorrow and see how i go, yes im slim but where is the muscle gone!! Anyway thanks for the reply, brought yet another book from amazon today with some raw recipes in for inspiration, cant wait for it to arrive - at this rate ill be bankrupt, but healthy! xxx
