Hello :)
My sister is really ill with ME and Fibromyalgia. She normally eats a very typical SWD, but due to some nagging from yours truly, her hubby has started making her green juices and smoothies which she loves.  Despite knowing how important it is to give up stimulants with these conditions, she still can't give up chocolate and so I am looking for some carob based 'treat' type recipes which she might be tempted away from chocolate with.  If anyone has any simple ideas they would be much appreciated :)
Many thanks

what about bought raw chocolate? it looks like chocolate so would satisfy the visual aspect too.

i did one of Sarmas recipies, very rich cake, but i would leave out the maca, i think it tastes too radishy for newbies. with three layers, (ill post up page number when i get home from work)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Raw-Food-Real-World-Recipes/dp/0060793554/r...

the thing was when id had enough of cake, i re mixed it , rolled it into balls with coconut around the outside, then when id had enough of them i flattened them and dehydrated them into biscuits
Also have you looked on the home page, theres some lovely looking cakes on there
Many thanks for the suggestions, Susan :)
I love raw chocolate too (especially Conscious Chocolate :) but unfortunately, even raw chocolate still contains caffeine which it is really best for her to avoid at the moment. Did the cake recipe from the book you recommend contain raw chocolate?
At the moment, I have suggested a simple carob mousse for her to try (http://thepurebee.blogspot.com/2010/05/raw-carob-mousse-recipe.html - she doesn't have a dehydrator, and is reliant on hubby making things so it can't be too complex!) but any other suggestions gratefully received :)
sorry i didnt realise.
the recipie i was refering to is actually in David Wolfe and Shazzies book Naked Chocolate. page 150

i thought i was going mad when i couldnt find it in Sarma's book, and i got the wrong book by Sarma anyhow :-Z

but reading sarmas book she says that the cacao can be replaced with carob but use less sweetner like agave in the recipie.

the base was carob so you could role that up into balls and coat in coconut

1/4 cup carob powder
2 cups pecans (dry)
20 black mission figs soaked in water fo r4 - 8 hourse
pinch of sea salt
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon of allspice.

grind nuts to a powder, with the spices, salt and carob powder. Add this to the food processor wtih most of hte figs and processuntil they have broken down. add the rest of th efigs one by one as your processing to get a hard dough-like consistency.

i havent tried just the base on its own as i made the whole pie., put less figs in so the mixture isnt so hard.

you may be interested to know that i have some carob nectar which i got from detoxyourworld.com
Many thanks for that, Susan :) Looks fab. I will get myself some figs this afternoon and try it myself :)
Have a lovely weekend.
